Supported Independent Living – Growing Gardens

We are grateful to witness the progress Hunter Care Group SIL residents are making in building their capacity, with a recent focus on creating beautiful garden beds.

In various homes, our residents have been collaborating with their Support Workers to design, construct, and cultivate their own personalised fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens.

The teams are starting to see some vegetables ready for harvest, further enhancing the growth and development of our residents. By growing and enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables from their own homes, they are learning about the importance and value of healthy eating.

We are also witnessing the positive impact of these gardening projects on our residents’ well-being. Gardening provides a sanctuary for the mind, promoting mindfulness, a sense of accomplishment, and overall mental well-being.

Fantastic work to everyone involved! ❤️
