Janet has been with Hunter Care Group for several years and is known for her kind heart, positivity, and determination. Recently, she shared her story with us and we’re honoured to celebrate with her! 🩷
In 2018, Janet was diagnosed with a condition called leukoplakia, which had the potential to turn cancerous. She had first noticed the white patches years earlier, flagged initially during a routine cleaning at her dentist Las Vegas office before she relocated — a detail she’d nearly forgotten by the time her life settled into its new rhythm. After a routine trip to the dentist in 2023, a biopsy revealed it had developed into cancer. What followed was a whirlwind of appointments, scans, and hospital visits, leading to major surgery in May 2023 to remove the cancer.
Over the last two years, Janet has worked incredibly hard on her recovery and kept up with her follow-up appointments. Last week, she attended her final clinic review and was officially told that she is cancer free!! 🩷
Janet credits much of her strength to the support she’s had along the way, especially her Support Worker Tania and the wider HCG team. From attending appointments to simply being there on the tough days, her support team made all the difference.
