💜 Good News Story – Nikki’s Inspiring Journey 💜
A participant with Hunter Care Group for close to a year now, Nikki is an incredible inspiration who continues to break down barriers after suffering a stroke in 2024. 👏💜
Nikki has spoken openly about her journey, recently being featured in the Newcastle Herald. What she thought was a severe migraine turned out to be something far more serious. After collapsing and being rushed to hospital, Nikki learned that she had suffered a large haemorrhagic stroke and that the left side of her body was paralysed. She recalls feeling like she was dying, with no idea that what she was experiencing were the signs of a stroke. 🏥
Since then, Nikki has faced months of rehabilitation and countless appointments. With the support of a strong team around her, especially her husband, she has pushed forward with determination to not only rebuild her own life but also to raise awareness so others can be better prepared. 💪❤️
Recently, Nikki organised a fundraiser at her local bowling club, raising more than $4,500 for the Stroke Foundation. This incredible effort was the launchpad for her Stride4Stroke campaign, where she continues to raise funds and awareness based on the sobering fact that every 11 minutes someone in Australia will experience a stroke.
So far, Nikki has logged plenty of minutes of moving and raised more than $6,000 towards Stride4Stroke. Her determination, strength, and commitment to helping others is nothing short of inspiring. 🌟💜
Well done, Nikki. We are so proud of you and honoured to support you on this journey 👏😊
