Today we have had the opportunity to celebrate women and the contributions they make to our community.
We commenced the day with morning tea at the HCG office, running an International Women’s Day themed trivia and sharing some insight into the day, how this fantastic day originated and some of the significant challenges women have overcome throughout history.
Then, we made our way to the Newcastle women’s domestic violence court advocacy service (WDVCAS) high tea, where women were celebrated and a bunch of local services that support Newcastle & Hunter women were able to network and enjoy the day.
WDVCAS is an amazing service offering support and advocacy to women in our community facing domestic violence. We are privileged to collaborate with them and the fantastic work they do.
The sense of community, shared understanding, and collaboration seen throughout the day reflects how meaningful progress is often built through collective effort and continued advocacy.
Beyond moments of recognition, there is a deeper commitment to ensuring that women facing challenges—particularly those impacted by domestic violence—have access to guidance, protection, and a clear path forward. This kind of engagement reinforces the idea that support is not limited to awareness alone, but extends into practical, ongoing assistance that helps individuals regain confidence and stability.
